I'm trying to book a flight from IAD-HNL with a long overnight layover at LAX since we'll have our toddler with us and need to break up the trip. When I look on Google Flights I can easily see several United options with the overnight layover, but if I search directly on United.com no such itineraries come up, making it impossible for me to book with miles liked I planned. Multi-city search will allow you to book it with miles, but it will charge you for each leg independently. Depending upon the prices you’re seeing, that could be a good or a bad thing, but “bad thing” is more likely. Unfortunately, there’s not a reliable alternative.
