I have never read of a successful reversal of early posting of a signup bonus. It can't hurt to try, but think of it from their point of view. Neither Chase nor Southwest is likely to respond favorably to "I was trying to game your system by having the points post in January. Something went wrong (TM) [my least favorite app error message]. Can you please fix my error so that my planned scheme succeeds?"
I can't think of an argument they might accept, but if anyone does think of one, please PM it to pobrien1902. Anything that works would be best kept below the radar.
