Why is ordering domestic food so awkward

I really don’t understand what the FAs want in terms of ordering actual food as they push the cart down. Just had this awkward encounter:

FA - Pretzels, Chocolate, Waffle? (Looks at me)
Me - Can I have the pizza melt?
FA - Pretzels, Chocolate, Waffle?
Me - (Thinking I wasn’t heard) Do you have a pizza melt left?
FA - I’m asking if you want pretzels, chocolate, or waffle, I heard your request.

This isn’t the first time I’ve had this problem and I honestly don’t know how FAs want us to do bistro orders. I’ve tried refusing the snacks only to have the snack cart push on after the row was served without my bistro order. Why can’t they just acknowledge what I’m asking for?
