Did you notice the course at all, e.g., do they have a decent pitching and chipping green? I practice more than I play. Short game is key when you are a senior!
It's closer but you need to account that the roads to the hotel aren't expressways so the cars aren't moving at the same speed. The view from the breakfast area and pool look out onto the course. Unfortunately, my golf experience is very lacking so I wouldn't be able to tell you if it was decent or not, although the course maintenance looked pristine as far as how the grass looked. If you are looking for a place to play golf, I would say it's something that a hotel inside the city wouldn't be able to offer, but as far as time saving, I was surprised about it not really saving that much time. If you are headed into Bangkok afterwards, you're going to have to sit in traffic either way if you are going to lower Sukhumvit. I would just bite the bullet and go into the city right after the airport, unless you were set on playing a round in the morning. The golf course isn't open at night, and even with an early tee time you would likely run into traffic once you get close to Nana in the morning.
