Mammoth only has one major chain hotel, the Westin, which is a fractional ownership property (fancy timeshare). The other "lesser" (Best Western, Choice) chains are present there, but they are mostly dumpy properties.
The economics are different in Mammoth. Unlike those other resorts, it's not connected well by air, and midweek occupancy outside of major holidays is relatively low. Real estate is expensive and it's a pain to do new builds. Anything new coming online has always been fractional ownership. So unless it's a Hyatt Vacation property, I don't see one in Mammoth's future. Mammoth basically sucks. Don't bother going there.
