I asked if they could check with a supervisor and then very reluctantly after many keystrokes, she produced a luggage tag that showed all 4 segments. My bag also arrived in BKK. Strangely, once they took my bag, it showed being checked in SDF but after that no scans for LAX HKG or HKG BKK. I was worried my bag didn't make the flight and that I would have to figure that out after landing in BKK. The agent in BKK said that because the flight is direct with the same flight number from LAX all the way to BKK that this was normal and it would not show. Another annoying thing, because the LAX/HKG/BKK flight is direct with the same flight number--you get the emails to select your meals in advance but when you click the link, it says no meal info is available for this flight. There was nothing that could be done to fix this. Luckily, I still got my first choice on board. So, hopefully, you get a good agent at CVG who knows how to create the luggage tag.
Thanks for the data point. Did you have a longer layover at ORD as well? I was more concerned about the 8+ between causing them issues then dealing with just the 2-ticket issue.
I seem to recall from somewhere that anything under 12 hours is OK but can't remember why I think that.
And thanks much for the info on bag scans not appearing. That would have had me concerned.
OT for here but saw reports that preordering for the "direct" flight wasn't possible. Really wish they had these flights more figured out.
