I had booked a flight XXX- to red-eye SFO-EWR, The evening XXX-SFO flight was removed from the schedule so they routed me XXX-LAS-EWR. I had intended to join a family member on the SFO-EWR so I called to request an earlier flight to SFO that would result in a 7-1/2 hour layover. On the second call an agent was able to put me on the earlier flight. I might take the BART to have dinner in Chinatown. The reservation looks like two separate flights now so I'm not sure if I can check a bag through the long connection.
