Then that’s the point. They are upcharging you to gain the benefits that any normal person would assume is the whole point of the $800 annual fee. Feels very disingenuous to me as a business practice if that’s what’s going on.
They don't promise the lowest price. They are offering you something you otherwise may not be able to get. Most people can't just book the cheapest priced room and get a room upgrade.
Rates that offer something similar (such as Virtuoso) are usually similarly priced.
