To Palma for A SWISS Senses product tour

Was keen to check these new products out and with no plans to visit USA anytime soon, I gathered a short hop on one of the Europe rotations would have to do for now.

Most of the flights seem to be to Prague, with a scattering of flights to Germany and Malaga.

Prague is far too short a flight time, so tried to get the few Palma/Malaga slots that were scheduled and in end managed to find a fairly good deal PMI-ZRH-LCY for £480. The only downside was I had to stay overnight in Zurich airport to catch morning flight to London. Still was worth the overnight accommodation. For comparison, Business fares for inaugural flight was over £1200

There was no fanfare/anything out of the ordinary for this flight at check-in. Many Business passengers were indeed returning from their holidays to a nice surprise ending !

There were a couple of contract lounges at PMI airport where I stopped by for a bit at the VIP Sala..

This one was fairly large with a decent food offering..

I headed to boarding gate soon as I got notification from SWISS re the gate.. it was hard to get a good shot from within the terminal there due to all the obstructions.

Here is the A350 beauty .. wearing the special Wanderlust livery...

I requested if it was possible to board a few minutes earlier to take some picture of empty cabin, but the ground staff refused citing security reasons.

Boarding eventually began rather late, with the gate area packed.

The cabin did look absolutely beautiful! Very sleek with deep reds and soft lighting. The use of wood panels throughout the cabin retains what is now also a signature SWISS choice of material.

I had about 3/4 seconds to take pictures of second cabin I was in before everyone else right behind me were taking their seats and rejoicing at their luck to find such seats waiting for them !

My seat 9K, was the best I could pick, all the Suites were blocked out from booking even when cabin was mostly empty at that point. Which remind me I was surprised to see such a full cabin in Business, across both cabins !

SWISS shares the underlying seat platforms with Lufthansa, using seven different seat types across the cabin, an unusually fragmented approach involving Collins Aerospace, Stelia, and Thompson...

Thankfully, SWISS simplified the marketing into five categories, making it easier for passengers to choose...

The EXTRA SPACE seats, which is essentially the previous throne seats feature:
  • Massive side consoles on both sides
  • 24" screen
  • Lots of surface/storage
  • SWISS charges 185 CHF extra for these.

My take? They feel surprisingly boxed in due to the narrow entryway. Some will love the space; others will find it claustrophobic.

Business PLUS Suites

These Suites feature:
  • Full-height doors
  • 24" OLED screens
  • Proper wardrobe
  • Ample storage
  • A personal drinks cooler

There are 8 in total, and they're priced accordingly: to/from Boston, these seats cost an extra 575 CHF to select.

Privacy Seat

These are the true window seats, and likely the sweet spot for most solo travellers. Most also feature two full clear windows..
  • Great seclusion thanks to the side console
  • Good shielding from aisle traffic
  • Standard 17" 4K OLED screen - could easily have been bigger though !
  • Comfortable and well-balanced layout

I would say row 9 provides even more sense of privacy due to the high walls of the Suites so no chance of seeing heads poking up in front of you !

Extra-Long Bed Seats (4G & 6D etc)

A quirk of the throne-console layout creates two seats with significantly more bed length.
If you’re over 6'5", these may be the ones to hunt down.

Senses Business Highlights

The heating/cooling feature is a standout, few airlines are even close to this level of personalisation. As well as the seat firmness adjustment - however when I tested those, I could not notice any difference! but frankly did not have long enough to wait and see

Something else I forgot to capture properly in pictures but can see my YouTube video is for my seat at least, the tray table is one of the biggest/longest I have ever seen on an aircraft !

It was akin to something coming out of a Tardis, it just went on and on ! The picture below show only half of the table extended out..

SWISS Senses FIRST CLASS

I spoke to crew to see if I can check out the First seats, and seeing as all 3 were occupied they agreed to let me stay behind for 5 minutes in end to get a look..

Walking into the First Cabin surely felt like walking into something special.

SWISS has gone from 8 First Class seats to just 3. This makes an already exclusive cabin even more elusive.

The two main Suites are lovely and do exude that bit of refined class, but in general I cannot say it is a massive leg up to something like ANA's F or JALs new F. They use a lot of modern technology, but JAL also features somethings especially with build it speakers that they do not have here.

The Double Suite though - that will be a treat if you get that all to yourself ! But in all realness, solo travellers may find it almost too big to be practical. You will most likely just use one of the chairs for lounging - that is already plenty of space.

It is in bed mode, where the full double width may be appreciated more.

Overall, this is a impressive product launch. The hardware is modern, thoughtful, and in many places—industry-leading.

The real test will be the soft product, with SWISS promising:
  • Enhanced 5-course dining
  • New amenity kits
  • Mattress pads and sleep shirts on night flights

Full rollout of the Senses soft experience by late 2025 / early 2026

I’m optimistic. SWISS needed a leap forward, and this feels like one.

But is this product revolutionary?

If SWISS had launched this 6–7 years ago, the answer would be “almost.” In 2025, full suites in Business Class are no longer ground-breaking, they’re rapidly becoming the norm. On that front, SWISS (and Lufthansa) are introducing a product that is already playing catch-up in terms of overall concept.

With the vast majority of Business Class seats not being a Suite - this product could easily look very dated in 5/6 years time!

This was a very short flight, and many photos didn’t turn out well, but I’ve put together a walkthrough on my YouTube channel. You can watch it here:
