I tried every which way I could think of to get QF SYD > MEL return flights to book on BA.com with zero joy. This was mainly due to the convenience of being able see the booking in my BA account and in the hope it would lessen the chance of having to chase missing TPs and Avios. Or at least make it easier to chase if it was needed. TP earning was also a consideration. On a spend of just over £300pp the TP earning will be………….. 18! After some rummaging around the web it seems that there’s no BA codeshares attached to the flights so I wandered if that was the reason for not being able to book as standalone flights on BA.com.

I could have booked them as part of a multi leg trip BA booking using the “Create Custom Trip” option and involving getting to and from Oz from the UK. As soon as the ex-UK legs were deleted an error message was displayed next to the SYD > MEL legs along the lines of “there a no flights available to this destination”.
