My recent stay was solid, if ultimately unspectacular, providing reliable service but marred by a few notable inconveniences.
Disturbance and Amenity Gaps (Negative) The most significant drawback was the ongoing construction noise originating from the Rainbow Tower. The drilling was persistent and loud enough to be clearly heard even from the resort's beach area.
Additionally, while a complimentary 1 PM late checkout was offered for Gold status, further extensions were subject to a $50 per hour charge (up to 6 PM). Crucially, the resort lacks any courtesy shower or changing facilities for guests who have checked out, making it difficult to enjoy afternoon pool or beach time before a late flight.
Elite Recognition & Room Upgrades Elite status recognition was excellent. Greeted and thanked for being a HiIlton Gold member (almost robotically) every time I had an interaction with a employee at the front desk.
Both of our standard room reservations were proactively upgraded to the Tapa Tower Ocean View about 2 weeks before check-in date.
We received high-floor rooms (28th and 29th) with ocean views. However, potential guests should note a slight view inconsistency: while the 28th-floor room offered a truly full ocean view, the room on the 29th floor (though classified as "Full Ocean View" as confirmed in the app) was further away from the beach and would be better categorized as a partial ocean view in my opinion.
Appears any upgrades to suites (classified as specialty rooms) is at a fixed upcharge, which for my stay ranged from $100 to $150 for the corner rooms/suites per night for the rooms we were considering upgrading to.
Dining Recommendations (Local Tips) I highly recommend seeking dining options off-site, as they offered far superior value and quality compared to the on-site restaurants. Wew especially enjoyed breakfast at Aloha Kitchen and Sunny's Local Grind (both just across the street) and found excellent take-out bentos and spam musubi at the small Japanese spot, Komedokoro M's (also across the street).
