Want to confirm this is expected behavior and not an issue with how my account was updated.
This is exactly how the program works.

As an Explorer, whenever your balance exceeds 100XP, you are upgraded to Silver. The "price" of Silver is 100XP, so this amount is instantly deducted from your account.

As a Silver, whenever your balance exceeds 180XP, you are upgraded to Gold. The "price" of Gold is 180XP, so this amount is instantly deducted from your account.

As a Gold, whenever your balance exceeds 300XP, you are upgraded to Platinum. The "price" of Platinum is 300XP, so this amount is instantly deducted from your account.

No individual XP can be used more than once - you can't use any of the same 100XPs that got you to Silver to also help you towards Gold.

Do also bear in mind that you now have a new Silver membership year which will expire next November. If you reach the end of your Silver year (meaning you don't manage to collect another 180XP in time to reach Gold), your XP balance will either have 100XP deducted from it (to "pay" for another year of Silver) or your balance will be reset to 0XP at the end of your Silver year (if you didn't manage to reach 100XP to maintain Silver for a second consecutive year)
