Much more prefer Jomtien or Rayong, or Koh Samui, for the beach and swimming. I've stayed at Hua Hin for a week at the IC nice pool terrible beach, a weekend at the Hyatt terrible beach too many jellyfish, and a couple days midweek and a week is way too long. The drive is terrible, so plan on the train if you go. I'd go elsewhere.
