As someone who grew up and spent years in Hua Hin, I'd advise against staying in Hua Hin but rather maybe find a beach resort in Cha-am or Pran Buri where there's a greater level of quietness and privacy, then head down/up to Hua Hin for food / shopping / sightseeing activities etc. It's gives you a more serene experience that way. Unless of course you don't value those things over convenience, as these places can be 15-25 km away.

The quality of the beach doesn't match that of the South, so if you're just looking for a quality beach getaway, go somewhere else!
