for 4 of us flying with kids we hope to get row 16 in the middle. Given it is in front of the lavatory, would that mean that we won’t have people standing right beside us to use the lavatory? I am assuming people will mostly queue between row 17 to 20?

That row might be about the best place for you on the plane. That first section of economy class cabin is sort of it's own little cabin (possibly intended to be a Premium Economy cabin in some configurations). There might be occasional bathroom lines but they probably won't be long enough to reach your row, and there is more space farther back for people to stand (it's the only reason I dislike exit row seating, the area by the doors gets taken over by people looking to stand, hang out, do yoga, etc.). Row 35 would also be a possibility for you--it's by the galley.
