I started to speak to the person sitting there as I arrived and they said "Your new seat is 1A." I asked if I could please have their name because I couldn't see it. They asked me "What? Why?" I said well, you must work for United. "No... " Okay, so is the gate agent bringing me a new boarding pass? "Why would they?" Well you said 1A is my new seat so I need the boarding pass to ensure I'm correctly boarded on this flight.... I wouldn't want to be marked a no-show. Flight attendant came up, addressed him by name (assuming he read the name for 1A) and told him that row 1 came before row 4 so he might have gone too far into the cabin. Guy got up looking pissed and went back to 1A.
This is why these seat poachers need to be called out. Obviously, the guy in 4A had gotten away with this before - if there is no pushback, this behavior will get worse and worse.
