I would agree that Hua Hin has changed and not for the better, but this be may partly due to accessibility in recent years for weekend visits from Bangkok.
Popular with Scandinavians and if you play golf may be considered a good location.
Completely agree - and the drive there is a drag. If going, I would suggest staying at The Barai, part of the Hyatt. If going for beach, it is not the place - need to go either further south or north.
Personally, I would much rather go to the east to Rayong, Chantaburi and Trat
