That is one factor but not the only factor. For me, it's also what return am I getting for using one of my 5/24 slots and what return would I get spending that $5K on another card. I would have never applied for the SYW card with only a $225 bonus offer if it wasn't for the statement credits. FYI, I applied and was approved.
