if you get the reserve, that gets you the 2500MQD headstart. You say you have $10k spend upcoming, that would be another 1000MQD. The annual fee adds another 65MQD. Now you're down to only needing ~1435 MQD. If the value preposition is worth it to you to get Diamond, you can buy the MQD at $3 per 1MQD, or generate more spend to hit the mark. Or, just get the Platinum card as well, that gets you another 2500MQD for the $350 annual fee.
Also just realized I can pay my rent in a credit card for a 2% fee. I live in NYC, so our absurd housing costs may come in handy for the first time in remembrance.
