Had that experience travelling with my parents. Stayed at a Conrad. I booked a room under my account as a diamond and they gold. We both got upgraded to the exact same exec king, and enjoyed the same benefits like breakfast and lounge access. Makes me feel there is little value for diamond above gold currently...
