Thanks all for the very helpful responses. I put in a claim and was refunded the upgrade fee. I have been going back and forth with BA arguing that I should be entitled under UK261 to 75% of the entire amount paid for that sector and they are not budging - saying that I am not entitled to any refund of the economy ticket amount. This does not seem right because I am effectively not compensated at all. Any guidance would be appreciated.
