Swiss vs Austrian Economy long haul

Hi,
I need to fly from Europe to Japan for a very short trip (extended weekend).

Currently both LX and OS are about 800-900 Euros round trip in economy.

I'm currently split over which option to go with. On one hand, I like LX and their hard product and I've never had a bad experience. I'm not a big fan of OS' B777-200s and the seat pitch seems to be slightly narrower than LX.
On the other hand, I'm hoping to upgrade to PE and OS has 40 PE seats vs LX's 24, which makes me think OS gives me a better shot at upgrading.
Purchasing PE from the get go is more than double the price and I don't think that's justified.

I've use both Zurich and Vienna and I don't have any issue with either airports. Transfer times are in the same range and my star alliance gold status gives me lounge access.

Thanks a lot for any advice you may have!
