Review - Nov 2025

Whilst trying to keep it mostly factual, albeit with some subjective views thrown in, I thought I’d give a brief review.

The first thing I would mention is that my Diamond upgrade was from a standard King room to a Super King room, which sounds better but I actually would have preferred to keep the original room and would ask to turn down this particular upgrade next time.

King rooms have the mini-couch that is ubiquitous with the latest style of Hamptons and a King bed, whereas super king rooms have a Super-king bed but only a small stool in place of the couch. I often use these couches for relaxing at Hamptons whereas the stool was pretty useless. The rooms were otherwise the same in terms of size and amenities.

Another annoyance was that the Super-king bed was two twins locked together. While the sheets were all Super-king size, it would have been uncomfortable to actually sleep in the middle. I would have swapped the extra 20cm of bed for the ‘downgrade’ of having the couch.

Moving on, I had no issues with the location as I am pretty used to using German public transport and the busses were very frequent. A taxi into the centre was also take less than 10 minutes if you chose that. However, I can see why some people would prefer to be more central if visiting the city. You can also get out to Potsdam in under 30minutes from Berlin so could visit as a day-trip from Berlin instead of staying in the city.

Overall I was pleased with my stay. The hotel was a good base for some sightseeing and the desk/chair setup was very comfortable to get a few hours of work done. The only negatives for me were the upgrade and the fact that there was some rubbish under the bed from previous guests. The rest of the room felt well cleaned to be fair, but under the bed had been neglected. I mentioned this to reception in both English and then German and was offered a free drink as service recovery.
