I'm of similar length as your son, emmaewe, and the SkySuite surely was not long enough for me. However, keeping my legs bent a little enabled me to remain at least somewhat comfortable. It is also not the widest seat but it was much more comfortable than the SSIII seat (reverse herringbone configuration) that I had on my other long haul segment with JAL.
