This is very bad advice. OP, do not follow this advice.
If it’s urgent to get where you are going and BA will not or cannot help then book another ticket by any means and claim this back from BA, however UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU CANCEL YOUR FLIGHT. This lets BA off the hook as you become an ex-Customer for this flight and cannot claim any further costs or expenses.
