Maison Rouge is a fine, yet imperfect, property that serves as a good option for exploring the Grande Ile of Strasbourg - a beautiful setting and definitely a site worth seeing. Here are my impressions and photos:
Pros:
- Bed is very comfortable - very plush mattress, plush enough covers, pillows are a bit thick but that’s probably better than thin
- Offered late checkout, which I didn’t need
- Great location in the middle of it all
- Breakfast is good - buffet and all menu items included - omelets were very good - good croissants - lattes were better than the cappuccinos (both from machine)
Cons:
- NUA to Deluxe Suite failed - only upgraded without NUA to Privilege Balcony - had seen both Junior suites and Deluxe Suites available on French site with 2 rooms left for each - was told at check-in no suites available before I had a chance to ask - I didn’t argue
- No in-room Ambassador welcome gift or note
- Shower is horrible - rainfall head barely puts out any water and the wand can only be placed at groin level
- Climate control panel was powered off - I think the AC was off centrally - I had to keep the balcony door open to cool off
- No treadmills in the gym
