The entry level rooms at this IC are ~24sqm IIRC which is definitely tight even for 2 people with moderate luggage only.
If one needs to book or get upgraded to a Jr. Suite to have ~32-36sqm space (which at the soon former IC Bugis comes in around 50sqm), I can understand why some guests are shocked upon entering the room (if they didn't know).
While designed by a rather well known (local) architecture firm (SCDA), the building can't hide it's former 3.5* hotel structure and layout.
IHG back then "watered" down the requirements or rather accepted a deviation from the typical IC development standards, but that is also the case in markets like Japan as we can see from ICs in Tokyo. YMMV.
BTW, the Lebanese restaurant downstairs is pretty good (with an actual Lebanese chef) and that comes from someone who has been to Lebanon several times in the past. In case anyone wants a break from laksa and carrot cake
