You don't notice their smell in the concourse, but when stuck in an aluminium can they can be quite unpleasant for your neighbours.
Was once sat next to a couple of ladies who had brought a large bag of Burger King takeout on to the plane in Y (coming back from BKK I think). It reeked.

Can't see any reason why they would disallow it in the lounge. Should be enough air volume that it doesn't cause problems.
