Cash upgrades give you a seat in the premium cabin but does not change your actual fare. Be careful looking at fare class as that is not reflective of your fare after an upgrade. This is why on a change you may forfeit your upgrade fee.
That is a ticket change and requires you talk to an agent or use online change flight. As you have changed the fare, on a change you with retain the upfare value.
Interfering. I took a cash upgrade from a Q fare to Prem Plus (my rez now showing “Fare Type: United Premium Plus (A)”) thinking that I could jump higher on the Polaris MUA list this way in the event I don’t snag a reasonably priced upgrade, worst case falling back to my PP seat.
Sounds like that’s not how it works?
