What a steal! $400 trip credit for basically nothing :D
Flying an itinerary today SMF>LAX>CLT>GSP. Got comp upgraded for first and third legs about 24-30 hours before departure of each. Got comp upgraded as the only person (1 seat) on LAX-CLT about 30 mins prior to departure.
I am in the air on the LAX-CLT leg and got a random e-mail that I got a $400 flight credit. Worried it was due to flight cancellation on the last leg, I contacted chat through the app. The representative said the timeline of flights was intact and I verified this. He then stated the $400 was compensation for something, though he could not see what. I refreshed the app a few minutes later, and I saw my seat is now in row 11 (was row 3 before changing, on a CRJ). I don't think there was an equipment swap. The prior listed flight had a bunch of extra seats for standby pax and a couple of F seats. Now there is no F or standby availability, and long lists for both... and my name is not on the F list now.
So basically it went like this... booked for a 55 min flight in Y (MCE, to be fair) months ago. Got comp upgraded to F. Today due to probably a different flight being canceled or something along those lines and being consolidated intk this flight, I got bumped back to Y, the cabin I originally booked in. Got $400 out of it without asking. I'll take it!
Getting back in touch with a chat rep to get my name back on the F upgrade list, in case someone doesn't show... the app made me check in again for the final leg. Hope my bags will be checked through and that the requirement to re-check in doesn't muck anything up, since I won't be going through TSA again.
