Today, the gate agent made an announcement letting people know that carry-on bags would need to be smaller starting in January, with European size requirements coming to the airline. This is the first that I have seen or heard about this. Can anyone confirm this and what the new rules will be as well as when they will take place?

The agent was confident enough about this to tell everyone that they should keep this in mind for when they decide what they want for their Christmas presents.
