Currently a Bronze member. Have an interesting Avios earning anomaly in a recent trip:
Flew a return on AA from Heathrow to the US, with a US connection. AA ticket.
- Outbound legs all earned Avios at 7x
- Return US domestic leg earned Avios at 7x
- Return TATL leg earned Avios at 8x
I didn't achieve silver status on this trip, and can't figure out why the final flight would have had a higher earning rate. Any ideas? Or should I just be thankful for a "bank error in your favour"?
For those who may be interested - I found the answer. The return TATL leg included a 2,500 avios milestone award, which was roughly equivalent to the eligible spend on the flight, hence why it looked like 8x vs 7x.
You'd have thought that if BA were going to the effort of creating milestone awards, they'd have them as a separate line item on your account statement so that they could make a bit of a fuss about it.
