Yes, seems so. I just priced up a LHR>SYD one-way with a stop-over in Kuching and with the program it was GBP637.22.

A regular LHR>SYD fare is pricing up at GBP574.92. The KUL>KCH>KUL flight is MYR538 or GBP98.

The delta of about GBP65 for the stop-over program is certainly less than GBP98 but the taxes should be:

Malaysia Service Tax (D8)MYR 41.28
Malaysia Regulatory Charge Domestic And International (H8)MYR 2.00
Malaysia Passenger Service And Security Charge (MY)MYR 22.00
Carrier-imposed surcharge (YQ)MYR 24.00

i.e. RM89.28 total or GBP16....not the GBP98 being charged.

The change conditions and baggage allowance show the Stop Over program is providing the lowest tier Economy Value benefits so this should be an apples-to-apples comparison.

I don't know if MAS is ever truly trying to scam people or just gross incompetence reins. Half the staff are useless and anyone who might notice this sort of misinformation has no gumption or at least no standing to speak up.
