I seriously don't get the logic of lowering tier requirements at the same time they are adding higher tiers. Unless this is a two step thing and the plan is to cut benefits in 2027.
I'm at 38 stays and 48 nights this year, with a handful more to come. If they lower Diamond requirements and put Reserve requirements out of reach (no way I'd ever hit $18K spend), then I'll stay Diamond. I mainly value the status when overseas, where it conveys nice upgrades, lounge access, and a proper breakfast benefit. In the US you might get a decent upgrade and some extra leeway for late checkouts and late cancellations, but the lounge access and food credit are largely worthless. If this doesn't change then I would just shrug my shoulders. Indeed, with the the lower stay requirement I would be able to book away from Hilton brands more often when they are more convenient. I just wish Hyatt and Accor had bigger footprints in the US.
