Hah, maybe I will. It's funny, I was looking at the app last night trying to book for January and February, and not a single date was showing up. I figured it was just this property severing ties, not the whole brand. But I didn't check other properties' availability.
Incidentally I was already set to check out today, but I was a little surprised by the email communication from Marriott telling guests in current reservations to
check out today (as in, ASAP) from existing reservations:
We regret to inform you that Marriott’s agreement with Sonder Holdings has ended, and Sonder properties are no longer part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. As a result, we are unable to continue your reservation beyond today, and we are kindly requesting that you check out of the property as soon as you are able.
We deeply regret the disruption this causes and understand how inconvenient this is during your trip. Please accept our apologies for this unexpected change and know that we are here to make this transition as smooth as possible. A refund for the remaining portion of your stay will be processed on the card on which the advance deposit was processed, and we are working with the credit card processor to get the refund processed as quickly as possible.
I am curious to see how things unfold. If Sonder stays in business I will likely stay here again even without the Marriott affiliation/points/night credit/etc., at least for my occasional 4+ night stays where I really enjoy being able to walk around Georgetown.
