I booked BKK-CDG-BER in AF J a few days ago using FB points. I went to check in this morning and received the error, "You are currently on the waiting list. Please check the status of your booking regularly." I am unable to select a select a seat or obtain a boarding pass. I called FB and was told that I am on standby, and that while they could select a seat for me on BER-CDG, no seat selection for BKK-CDG is possible.

Is the flight potentially overbooked or is this error possibly related to a document or payment method check? I have never seen this error when flying AF or KLM, even for document checks. It's understandable that I cannot choose a seat if the flight is genuinely overbooked, but I have a feeling this might be related to a payment method verification check because the flight was booked last minute.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?
