Ugh.
Mother and I are traveling to UK, she on KL ticket/KL metal outbound, I on VS ticket on the same KL outbound. For her return (different than mine), she's on DL metal EDI-JFK-LAX in D1.

While we don't have concern about the outbound as international flights have priority and don't seem experience FAA cancelations (for now), she's very concerned about her inbound, particularly the JFK-LAX segment - it could even effect the EDI-JFK segment as the aircraft could be delayed/canceled on a domestic positioning flight.

She would like to see about changing the inbound to an itinerary that connects in Europe. But as KL holds the reservation, we're not sure who to contact or when. The KL/AF websites mention zippo about the FAA directive or waivers. Does she have to wait until T-24 hours if things are pear shaped for DL to offer alternates?
