Class inventory makes complete sense to me. As I mentioned, I did try to get DL to ticket this itinerary on 006 stock (for the exact reason you mention), but I was told that it could not be done, that AF “won’t price it”. I’ve done this in the past, so was trying to figure out what the issue was issue might be.
I'm not all that sure that DL agents can see or ticket the AF fares and they may be limited by DL tools they are using. DL website/app will definitely not show these options unless you use some trickery to pull them up using ITA Matrix Powertools.
