An air purifier filters indoor air (or in the case of fancy Japanese ones, kill viruses and molds through ionized particles), but does not circulate outside air. The AC of many of the CPs I’ve stayed in Japan actually circulate outside air (judging by the CO2 readouts).
In this hotel, it was actually possible to adjust the power of the Aircon. I had it on 15c, was effective, did adjust it to 18c, was then good for me.
But you cannot adjust it if the Aircon is centrally switched off. That is the point.
Ofc its about the bottom line. They earn a lot by not having the Aircon on, but imo, if you book a room with aircon, its reasonable that you also get it.
