My attempt at doing that was declined because the flight had already “credited” to A3, even though I got nothing. I suspect it may have been different when you request credit to M&M but I was trying to send it to UA. I am very proud of not having accumulated a single mile with M&M for 10 years now.
To Miles & More, I have never had such problems.
Also, Original ticket is LH flight N class and upgrade with Miles & More Miles to Business class, then registered frequent flyer membershipt is A3 (used Senetor lounge) and miles to A3.
I asked LH in advance, they said no problem, and it was no problem.
