I guess time is tight? LIR is a nice place to spend a day, two, or three... SJO on the other hand is a good city, but it's just that, another city and I am not rushing to go again. If you did want to attempt to get Costa Rica into the mix AA has flights from DFW, but I don't know how they align with AS's LAX flights for same days turns.

For maximizing domestics, I suppose you already know the answers there. Though be aware that the likes of SJU, STT, etc. have scarce business availability (on any code, let alone D) in winter months and especially near Christmas and New Years.

There is a QR code available on ANC-LAX, though not the easiest to find D availability on, it's mostly J and C restricted but that would be better for you than the AS prime code. For your SJU-xxx-LAX, why not via JFK to get the proper business seat (to LAX) and a better lounge? Plus far less weather risk in NYC (though I have been caught in the worst of it twice in recent years)
