I don't know why the OP is so determined about 20k spend with BA. Yes, aircraft changes happen with any airline as they rightly pointed out, but since I moved my loyalty over to QR earlier this year due to BA's greed, I haven't looked back.
QR is the largest shareholder of IAG, which owns BA. QR awards just lost seat selection, and their surcharge creep up everytime i checked. with business classic fare having no lounge access, i will bet this will come soon for QR awards. calling BA greedy is pot calling the kettle black
