I worked for Amex 20+ years ago! Quite a lot has changed. An Amex Airfares Centre does exist for fare construction, albeit Amex's focus is very much corporate accounts. Trailfinders is your best bet in the UK on financial security and physical presence grounds. Probably best to go into your local TF and develop a working relationship with a consultant who you can refer back to. I doubt many/any Travel Agent will want an email dialogue thou, if things are complex agreement via telephone is far easier for both parties!
