Suppose two "swinger" couples check into a hotel. Couple A, composed or P1A and P2A, and Couple B, composed of P1B and P2B, where both P1A and P1B have status. At some time after check in, perhaps in the middle of the night, the couples decide to swap mates, so that P2A and P2B switch rooms. Does/should the hotel care? In most places in the USA, I think the attitude would be that voluntary sleeping arrangements are not the business of the hotel staff, although some foreign countries might view it differently (adultery laws or simply laws regarding the need to show ID or register with the government when checking into a hotel, especially as a foreigner). Does it matter if Couple A has status: both P1A and P2A (separate Honors accounts) are Gold or Diamond with Hilton?

A more family-friendly version would be to imagine a family with two parents and two kids checking into a hotel where they have reserved two rooms but cannot get connecting rooms. The two kids have never stayed by themselves in a hotel before, and one or both kids become stressed during the night, resulting in the parents deciding that one parent and one kid will sleep in each room. Does this somehow violate the rules if both parents have hotel status?

If either of these cases creates a problem, it would seem that the hotel rules about who sleeps where are stricter when hotel status is involved, which seems to be the opposite of the general expectation that frequent guest elites get more rather than fewer privileges. OTOH perhaps one gives up some privileges when participating in frequent guest programs.
