Award Ticket Flexibility

Hi Everyone!

I have a question regarding the Lufthansa Group's flexibility/ what the best approach is:

I currently have an award booking in Business Class BOS-MUC-ZRH on the 20:40 Departure (19th of December) using Lufthansa and booked via the SWISS Service Center. I would of course prefer being on the direct SWISS flight 70 minutes later, but theres is no award availability. So I have a couple of questions and am hoping to make use of the everlasting wisdom on flyertalk;

-On the day of departure, during checkin, if there are seats left on the direct flight, how likely is it for Lufthansa/SWISS to reacommodate me on the direct flight ? Would an overbooked Lufthansa flight change anyhting?

-If I call the Senator Hotline 24h+ Prior to departure, and there are empty seats, how likely are they to "courtesy-rebook" me onto the direct fight, seeing they could be saving money.

-If I call the Senator Hotline less than 24 hours prior to departure and the flight is under "airport control" (I believe thats what its called) can they be more flexible ?

Thank you for your help! Im really curious to know if Lufthansa has such logical switch systems in place...

Best,
