Absenteeism for both is clearly way up and admitted by both. While the concept of closing airspace entirely would certainly create shockwaves, it won’t happen.
As far as UA hubs, I monitor IAD and EWR regularly. Either myself or someone who I monitor travel for flies through weekly. Just based on a handful of examples over the past 2 weeks, EWR is on my do-not-fly list, and the despair that are the current C/D concourses at IAD now seem a lot friendlier.
