Just a final update - while the two passengers boarded their flight from SIN to MEL they received an eMail from TK - TK reimburses their cost for rebooking, their expenses in IST and each passenger receives a 600EUR compensation on top.
So in the end TK admitted that it was their fault. It took time and lots of fighting but in the end the result was positive for the passengers (even without going to court).
Idk, being stuck in IST for uhm 🫤 TEN DAYS not even for leisure but spending what sounded like at least half their time in or going to and from the airport does NOT sound like an overall positive experience (but after denied boarding what else would have been)
Seriously. If I was this guy’s wife I would’ve waved goodbye, boarded the initial IST-MEL flight & let him figure this .... out while I unwind & relax in Bali
Let’s hope there’s no follow up post on how the replacement flight was somehow booked in such a way as to be ineligible for the 1 Million miles. He will spend at least a year in Istanbul lawyering up for that one!
