How? Check out, go to upgrades, cancel your waitlist if still waitlisted, apply again, and grab the upgrade.

Doesn't hurt to run alerts on your flight!
That doesn't work within T-36. Everything gets waitlisted until the gate.
That type of action is the specific reason they added this restriction.
