Passed through Budapest in October (2025), with 4 nights (original plan) with stays at 1. Kimpton 2. Hilton castle booked , then Crowne and Vignette . IC out of mind as old, dark.
Recall, wanted to stay here in 2024 April Budapest pass-through, saw "review" by Nicholas from
2023. How is there a review in 2023 before a hotel opens, i asked?
Now looking at reviews as writing some comments, see that Nicholas stayed in Sept 202
4.
Exec conclusion: yes, i would stay here again (it's easy to try some place/resto/etc, but more important question is : what places would you return to? )
Check-in:
a. after 13 hours of travel, reached hotel after 8pm, was thirsty.
Asked if they had sparking water, while check-in gal was thinking, nearby fellow Peter (Front-desk + other jobs/roles as i could see) asked if wanted sparkling wine. Sure.
No one else checking in, some typical questions which evolved into travels, locations, IHG and other hotel loyalty programs
b. As waiting on check-in gal, Peter mentioned Hungarian jeagermeister , so i sipped the shot-glass for next seeming 10 minutes at check-in (i wasn't in any rush).
c. Welcome drink coupon: asked if room had sparkling water, by this time check-in gal looked at my poinits balance and was engaging in convo about IHG properties around the world. She provided a welcome drink coupon. I.Hospitality.Group .
Room:
a. suite with the blue marbled sinks with shower and toilet on either side, the bathtub above ground in front , corner room with windows on two sides with view of Danube ... i think same room type as Nicholas but a higher floor as nothing blocking the view (vs Nicholas photo had some leaves/bushes in line of sight; but Nicholas has small balcny with two chairs.
b. Dahlmeyer coffee+tea + honey in thin-long packets like sugars. Can't recall honey, in the room, in such packages in other hotels (yes, those mini-jars of honey & jams at breakfast, but in the room, honey, and in this type of packaging ...different)
c. no bath salts, but had some from earlier on
Rooftop
Good views, and nice breeze to cool down. Used the drinks coupon (only beer or wine or soft drinks)
Breakfast:
a. very bright, street level, at corner of two roads, lots of windows.
b. significant variety, and some different/less-usual items
c. tasted bits of many items, just enough to walk uphill to Hilton next to castle where there would be an Exec Lounge waiting
Mezzanine artwork: view from breakfast area, then F&B manager showed the area ...it's mostly meeting rooms and just a narrow hallway, though from breakfast area below you might think it would be just one room for a reception of some evemt / networking at a conference.
