I’m going to land at TPE terminal 2 on a BR international flight without a checked bag about half an hour earlier than my friend who will arrive at terminal 1 on a CI international flight with checked bags. Would I be able to take sky train/walk on the airside to terminal 1 baggage claim area without a connecting flight to meet with my friend there and exit Customs together? I’ve never done this before so I want to make sure this wouldn’t be a problem. Thanks.
It's theoretically possible as the two terminals are connected on the airside, even for arrival. During Covid when Taiwan was doing PCR swabs upon arrival, my flight that was supposed to disembark at T2 ended up in T1 because all T2 PCR testing sites were occupied. Then we had to walk over to the custom at T2 to get our bags via that very long airside corridor.
